Do I really need to kill the Boxelder Bugs?
Boxelder bugs do not bite and they are not poisonous. They stay away from people or homes during spring, summer, or fall. It is during the colder months that they try to get close to shelters to protect them while they hibernate. They usually stay outside houses where there are trees and the sun for their liking. Some homeowners leave them alone as they have already protected their home against invasion. Preventing the bugs from entering a home is important. Owners can change or repair the windows and doors, seal openings and cracks. If Boxelder bugs stay inside the house, they can leave stains in the walls or their excrements inside. This is the reason why people see them as pests and they do everything to eliminate them. Again, you do not need to kill these bugs if you have protected your home against them. They will leave on their own and their lifespan is not that long, usually lasting until a few days or a week.
