If a Boxelder Bug has approached a home or building, will insecticides work on them?
If for some unfortunate reason that the Boxelder bugs approached your home during winter or they failed to leave during spring, owners can use the right insecticides in exterminating them. Boxelder bugs are not seen as agricultural pests because they do little harm on plantations and crops. Unfortunately, they are seen as pests by humans because they leave stains on the wall where they stay and they even leave their excrements behind. They do not bite but they can flock on homes. Insecticides can work on them outdoors. Spray should be done during late summer and fall as this will be the time when Boxelder bugs will search for shelters. Insecticides to be used should be types that are made especially for outdoors. Pesticides can also work if owners check the active ingredients found. Cyfluthrin, Lambda Cyhalothrin, and Tralomethrin should be present in the product.
